Lionshead Saturday Afternoon Club returns Saturday
August 7, 2010
VAIL, Colorado – The Lionshead Saturday Afternoon Club continues Saturday with free activities for the entire family. From 3 to 6 p.m. families can enjoy kids’ arts and crafts projects, face painting, hula hoops, a water balloon toss, a pizza tossing competition, a gigantic inflatable obstacle course, the Raptor Rendezvous, and new this year, the Lionshead Kids’ Discovery Zone.
During the Raptor Rendezvous program the Denver-based Raptor Education Foundation (REF) will showcase raptors such as eagles, hawks, flcons and owls, allowing those in attendance to get a rare close look at the birds. This two-hour educational program will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. on the grassy lawn adjacent to the Eagle Bahn Gondola. The REF requests that all dogs please be left at home.
New this year is the Lionshead Kids’ Discovery Zone, a fun and educational area designed for families to enjoy learning something new about their world together. This week the Discovery Zone hosts Peak Rhythms, a fun and interactive drum circle experience. From 3 to 6 p.m. kids can play drums and instruments from diverse cultures as well as experience how drumming and music making builds community, creativity and communication skills. No musical experience necessary. Drums and instruments are provided, or you can bring your own, and everyone can participate.
