EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado Does religion cause war and violence? Are science and religion at odds? What are the benefits of faith?Has faith become antiquated, illogical and dangerous?Tonight these questions will be addressed in the Live from New Yorks 92nd Street Y program at Vail Interfaith Chapel. One of todays leading voices of contemporary religion, Rabbi David Wolpe, will talk with acclaimed author Jonathan Safran Foer. The program will be broadcast live via satellite from New York at 6:15 p.m.Rabbi Wolpe will bring some opinions and light to these ideas. In his new book, Why Faith Matters, he looks at traditions of faith and the good they have done. His examination also reflects on the difficult questions faith cannot always answer, including the many instances when religions have resorted to violence. He will discuss his personal journey through life-threatening illness (he has undergone surgery for a brain tumor and chemotherapy for lymphoma), from the depths of darkness to the illuminating light of faith.
