Special to the Daily Little Hercules as always will bring the funk to this year's LIve in Minturn concert series Aug. 24 at the town's new amphitheater. The group opens up for Papa Grows Funk.

MINTURN – Town of Minturn’s Little Beach Park Amphitheater will host some of the concerts for the 17th Live! in Minturn concert series, starting Saturday, Aug. 19, with Hot 8.

Local favorites Little Hercules will open for Papa Grows Funk on Thursday, Aug. 24, and All Strung Out will open for Vince Herman and Friends on Saturday, Aug. 26. All shows starts at 6 p.m. Gates will open at 5 p.m. A family concert by Pat Hamilton, presented by The Swift Eagle Foundation, will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, at the amphitheater and is free. As always there will be concerts at local bars in Minturn and Red Cliff, too. There will be prize give-aways at each concert. The culmination of this year’s events – as always – will be the Halloween celebration at the Minturn Saloon.With a projected plan to expand events in the summer 2007, the amphitheater will bring entertainment, cultural and educational events, attractive to residents of Minturn and the Eagle Valley. Completion of concessions stands, restrooms and a table seating area, are in the works and proposals for such events as Children’s Theater, a Shakespeare Festival and musical appearances are also being presented to interested parties.
