Dec. 21, Wednesday, is the winter’s solstice. With only 9 hours and 22 minutes of light on that day, it is the darkest day of the year. This year’s solstice is particularly meaningful as we enter into the year of the galactic synchronization, which will occur on Dec. 21, 2012. Some have thought this to be the end of the world as the ancient Mayan long count calendar ends on this day. The Mayan calendar began 5,126 years ago. The Mayans were a very advanced civilization, who studied the stars and planetary movement, and it was the completion of their time cycle, which began and ends on the 13th Bak’tun cycle. In astrological terms, this is when the December solstice sun aligns with the galactic equator. This only happens every 26,000 years. You can go to http://www.maya12-21-12.com for more information about this. However, if you think about it from a logical perspective, it makes sense that there will be some sort of planetary pull of gravity when this occurs. If indeed our oceans are predictable because of the moon cycles and the gravitational pull that controls high tide and low tide, what happens when the December solstice sun aligns with the galactic equator? One has to wonder …I believe that there is a quickening of energy that is occurring and I can feel this in my daily life as I allow myself to be present enough to experience it. I just returned from spending the month of November in the Yucatan Peninsula, in the land of the ancient Mayans, meditating in their ruins and focusing on the shifting energy, and I have a much stronger sense of it now. But what does this mean in our everyday life? There is a shifting into the next level of consciousness or higher frequency. I believe it means whatever you focus on and bring into alignment with your thought, whether it is positive or negative, is what you will create in your life. Everything is accelerating. The cause and effect cycle is quickening and the results of your focused attention will be what will manifest into your reality. There is also evidence that supports many Earth-based catastrophes that have been happening as we are moving towards the galactic equator. Acceleration of frequency will spin out in the form of earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic eruptions. You only have to look at the past decade to see the increased frequency of these natural phenomena occurring to believe this. But my purpose in telling you this is not a report of gloom and doom. This is a message of enlightenment and anyone can open themselves to the new vibrational frequency. It is the frequency of light. Just open your heart and you will receive the accelerated vibration of light. The Christmas season is the perfect time to shift into this.On Wednesday I would like to share the gift of light. However you celebrate the holidays in your home, add a light to participate in bringing more light on the winter solstice. Menorah candles, Christmas lights and luminaries on your front step or driveway are all great ways to shine light on the longest night of the year.I will donate 1,000 luminaria candles and bags for the purpose of increasing light in our valley this winter solstice. Any person wanting to spread the gift of light can pick up these luminarias beginning this weekend, on a first come, first served basis. Please stop by Nest Furnishings in Avon next to Office Depot during this week to pick up yours, and let the light shine through. Happy holidays to you and yours.Karen Petersen is the owner of Black Diamond Realty and Feng Shui consulting.
