AVON — Vail Valley Art Guild member and professional artist Leigh Ann Van Fossan will lead a one-day oil painting workshop at Art of the Valley Gallery in Avon on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Van Fossan, a Vail native, began oil painting at the age of 12. She went on to study fine art at the University of Colorado Boulder and at the Syracuse University Center in Florence, Italy. Her work is sold and collected throughout the United States and abroad.

Van Fossan works out of her home studio in Eagle alongside her husband, who is internationally-acclaimed painter James Van Fossan.

The work will be alla prima, or completed in one sitting as a wet-on-wet painting. Van Fossan will also instruct in the exploration of palette knife paint application techniques.
