LIONSHEAD – What do local artists Dan Allard, Chris Eklund, Joyce Wimer, Charmayne Bernhardt, Joan Norris, Melodee Kennington and Doni Beck have in common? They’ve all supported Court Appointed Special Advocates of the Continental Divide by taking a basic wooden birdhouse and using their skills and imagination to transform it into a work of art. Some are painted, others covered with stone, some feature bird feathers and beads, but each is different, and they’re all for sale to benefit CASA of the Continental Divide. CASA will have a tent at the Vail Arts Festival on today. The arts festival takes place from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. today and Sunday by the parking structure in Lionshead, but CASA will be selling birdhouses only on today.

Selling homes for our feathered friends is a nice tie-in for CASA, whose volunteers advocate in court to get local abused and neglected children into safe and permanent homes as quickly as possible. For more information on CASA, call Tiffany Grosjean at 390-6200. Vail, Colorado
