Local DJ, ones&zeros, performs in Avon Saturday
Local DJ Fred Fernandez, the man behind ones&zeros, started learning instruments at the age of six. After being classically trained on the piano and violin, Fernandez was introduced to the guitar. “Everything from that point on changed,” he said. “The guitar encompasses all that I love about music.” DJ ones&zeros will return to Loaded Joe’s Saturday night. Expect to hear an eclectic mix of rock, dubstep, deep house, tech couse and techno. After performing in several college bands, ranging from jam to metal to hip hop, Fernandez decided to go to school for guitar performance. He attended the Mcnally Smith College of Music, where he acquired a degree in jazz guitar studies. He later attended the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Tempe, Ariz. where he learned to manipulate sound. Today he concentrates on production and performance in his home studio. “Anything from playing guitar to a DJ set, is the culmination of 30-plus years of finding my way through the labyrinth that is music,” he said. Fernandez has been in Eagle County for 8 years now. He’s been in a few local bands here and there, but has put most projects on hold to focus on his family. “My main thing is sitting in the studio banging away on my MPC and MIDI controller,” he said. “I like being able to control everything that goes into my music, from the bass to the drums to the synth lines, knowing what I want and being able to produce the sounds I hear my head is what I thrive on.” Some of the unique record labels and artists that inspire him include Poker Flats, dark tech house sounds and Get Physical, as well as Tale of Us, Danny Daze, Maceo Plex, Skinner Box, Jori Hulkonnen and more. The performance will begin around 10 p.m. and there is no cover. For more information call 970-748-1480 or visit http://www.loadedjoes.com.
