Local flight instructor earns master status

David Lohmann recently renewed his Master Certificated Flight Instructor accreditation. He is a flight instructor at Hawaii’s Kalaeloa Airport and teaches aviation classes at Honolulu Community College. Specializing in CFI training, he also serves in the Civil Air Patrol and is an aviation safety counselor in Honolulu.Lohmann also lives in Edwards.

Lohmann’s accreditation as a master certificated flight instructor was renewed by the National Association of Flight Instructors, his professional aviation education organization.There are approximately 87,000 certified flight instructors in the United States. Fewer than 500 of them have achieved the master instructor distinction. The last 11 national flight instructors of the year were master CFIs. Lohmann is one of only three Hawaii aviation educators to earn the master title. A master instructor designation must be renewed biennially.
