May 21, 2012
EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado – In recognition for their work in promoting affordable housing in Colorado, three Habitat for Humanity affiliates received awards of $1,000 each on May 10 at the annual Camp Colorado conference in Beaver Creek.
Chaffee County Habitat for Humanity, Habitat for Humanity of Eagle and Lake Counties and Loveland Habitat for Humanity were presented these awards in conjunction with their efforts in the statewide 1,000 Homes campaign.
These awards represent accomplishments over the past three years in home construction, capacity building and philanthropy that have increased access to affordable home ownership. It took nearly 30 years, more than 1 million volunteers, and $80 million in donations of cash and materials to bring 1,000 families homeownership in Colorado. Driven by an aggressive campaign to help end poverty housing in the state, Habitat for Humanity is on track to complete its next thousand homes by the end of 2012, accomplished in just three years’ time.
