Local jewelry designers visit Cogswell in Vail

Cogswell Gallery presents a collection of work by local jewelry designers Katey Jenkins and Jill Koellhoffer. This collaboration between two friends came together more than 10 years ago with the idea to begin KJ Designs. While managing the Squash Blossom in Vail, the women noticed a niche they wanted to fill for high-quality, moderately-priced jewelry made locally.

Patti and John Cogswell, owners of The Squash Blossom and Cogswell Gallery, recognized their potential and stepped in to assist them. Both women have degrees in Fine Arts, and while Koellhoffer specializes in beadwork, Jenkins complements her with a background in metal smithing. It was a match destined for success.

Working at Squash Blossom gave them access to instant feedback from clients. They could communicate directly with customers and custom fit most of their unique pieces according to people’s specific needs.

After five years of working together and perfecting their colorful gemstone line, the young entrepreneurs decided to create a second line inspired by natural, organic shapes. The CeCe Collection was born and is available in 18-karat gold and silver, as well as a combination of both.

Their success at the Squash Blossom allowed KJ Designs to expand and they are now represented at the Cogswell Gallery in Vail and several retailers throughout the United States.
