VAIL – Three Vail-area landscapes have been given awards for innovation by the Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado, a state landscape industry association.

Edwards-based Colorado Alpines, Inc. won two awards for using environmentally friendly landscaping methods called “xeriscaping” at the Betty Ford Rock Alpine Garden and at a private residence in Vail. Avon-based Garden Creation took home an award for its use of colorful perennials at a home in Edwards.

“These winning landscapes provide an exciting preview of the state’s landscaping trends for the year ahead,” said Kristen Sirovatka, executive director of the Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado. “Categories ranged from xeriscape and landscape construction to renovation, water features, special areas and use of color with annuals and perennials.”

The Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado has 700 members across the state. For more information about the organization, visit its Web site http://www.alcc.com.Vail, Colorado
