Local man’s body found in river in Minturn

MINTURN – The body of a 46-year-old Minturn man was found in the Eagle River Tuesday morning.

The man’s death was not deemed suspicious, and there were no obvious signs of trauma, said County Coroner Kara Bettis. An autopsy will be performed today, she said.

His name was not released pending notification of his family.

The body was discovered in the river across from the Forest Service station near Dowd Junction, Bettis said. The man’s truck was found a short distance upriver.

“We think he was possibly fishing,” Bettis said.

Bettis said the man was reported missing Monday.
