Eagle Valley High School senior Luis Landeros was recognized by the Colorado High School Athletic Association as one of the few 2004 ‘High School Heroes.’

This program began two years ago to honor high school student-athletes who have made significant improvements academically and evolved into leaders at their schools.

Landeros was honored at a banquet hosted by the Denver Broncos Organization at Invesco Field in Denver. Former Broncos player Wade Manning spoke to the group.

“I really enjoyed the tour of Invesco Field Ð it’s an incredible facility,” says Landeros. He also added that the entire experience was one he’ll never forget. “Wade Manning emphasized the importance of getting a good education his messages were inspiring.”

Landeros will graduate from Eagle Valley High in May and plans to attend Red Rocks Community College and study construction management and business. Landeros served as captain of the school’s football team last season and is a mentor to younger students at the school.

His football coach, John Ramunno, attended the banquet with Landeros. “Luis is a pleasure to be around and is an excellent role model,” says Ramunno. “You can always count on Luis to make good choices.”
