Local wine importer pours French wines in Avon
Avon, CO Colorado
AVON, Colorado – Selected French wines from Old World Imports will be showcased at Avon’s vin48 Wednesday night as part of the restaurant and wine bar’s weekly tasting series.-
Zach Locke, Vail Valley local and owner of Old World Imports, will pour four of his favorite regional French wines.-
Old World Imports is a locally owned, regional importer of estate-grown and produced French wines.
“I have owned Old World Imports for five years, and have focused on working with grower wines, meaning people who grow the grapes and make the wines,” Locke says. “I import French wine because that is what I like. European wines have balance of fruit, mineralilty and acidity and really show the ‘terroir’ of which they come from.”
The wines are from four distinct regions, Locke says.
Vin48’s chef and owner, Charles Hayes, will pair the wines with appetizers in the restaurant’s wine bar.
The event is part of vin48’s summer tasting series, which takes place every Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Vin48 serves wines from visiting winemakers, importers and industry insiders, and pairs it with Hayes’ cuisine. All the wines served are available for purchase at discounted prices from Beaver Liquors in Avon.
“We are fortunate to have a local resource for French wines in the Vail Valley like Old World Imports” said Greg Eynon, vin48’s wine director and owner. “Zach’s wines always taste true to the region where they are from. This will be a great opportunity for guests to experience the diversity of French wine.”
