595 Vail Valley Drive, Manor Vail
Located in Manor Vail Lodge, in the heart of Vail, Lord Gore is not a typical hotel restaurant. Nestled at the base of Golden Peak, overseeing Vail Mountain on one side and the rapids of Gore Creek on the other, Lord Gore offers splendid food, matchless views and attentive service.
The menu is a reflection of new Executive Chef Adam Dulye’s extensive culinary experience, and his diligence in making use of the season’s bounties. He’s got a natural flair for interweaving various elements of regional American cuisine with European classics, as with the cheddar-and-ale fondue.
Even the most unforgiving wine connoisseur will appreciate the restaurant’s international wine selection, compiled by Manager Andre Boesel. Those less experienced, yet ready for a wine adventure, shouldn’t hesitate to ask Boesel for assistance.
The Chilled Seafood “Louis” includes crab, oysters and jumbo shrimp, watermelon granita and horseradish, all layered with love and attention to detail. The seemingly contradictary flavors makes it an invigorating prelude to dinner. Tuna topped with homemade lemon marmalade is the restaurant’s star dish, served over golden brown potatoes and steamed bok choy. The sweet crepes with peaches flambeed tableside and poured over homemade vanilla ice cream is as visually compelling as it is tasty.
The restaurant now has a second deck, overlooking Gore Creek. The new bar menu has just been compiled, and consists of 15 items under $15.
