Guzman benefit today
Brianna Guzman’s family is trying to raise money for special therapy treatments for Brianna, who reacted severely to a vaccination in 1997, suffering considerable brain damage. In 1997, Kim Guzman took her perfectly healthy 2-month-old daughter, Brianna, to the pediatrician for standard vaccinations. A few hours later, Brianna Guzman stopped breathing. Her brain began to swell and she almost lost her life.
The benefit is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Vail Neck and Back Pain Center, 2109 N. Frontage Road in Vail. It costs $25, and the donation gets you a consultation, exam and adjustment. The event also includes prizes, a raffle, aura readings, face painting, balloons, massages and a book signing with Jeani-Rose Atchison who wrote “Every Day a Vegan.” Call 477-2225.
Those wonderful folks at the Eagle Valley and Vail Valley chambers of commerce are running a couple political forums. At 6 p.m. Monday in the Eagle County Building in Eagle, the three county commissioner candidates square off. Republican incumbent Tom Stone, along with challengers Democrat Gerry Sandberg and Independent Laurie Bower.
At 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Avon town council chambers, all 12 candidates for Avon town council will go at it.

EVHS Booster Club golf tourney
Those folks at Eagle Valley High School could use a little rest and relaxation. Toward that noble goal, the EVHS Booster Club golf extravaganza is Sunday at Cotton Ranch in Gypsum. It’s $100, with an 11 a.m. shotgun start. Call 328-8960.
Voter registration deadline Monday
You have until the close of business Monday to do your civic and moral duty, and register to vote. Voter registration application forms are available at the Eagle County Clerk and Recorder offices located in Avon, El Jebel and Eagle, as well as at all Town Clerk offices throughout Eagle County. Application forms are also available on Eagle County’s web site located at http://www.eagle-county.com. Instructor Patricia Riggins brings her 25 years of professional dance experience to this dance course offered at the Avon Recreation Center. She will teach the fox trot, waltz, swing, cha cha, and the rumba during a 10-week class. Couples are recommended, but singles are welcome. It’s Sundays from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m., and the advanced session will be held on Sundays from 7:45 to 9:00 p.m. Sessions run through Nov. 24. It costs $90 per person or $165 per couple.
