VAIL, Colorado – A major winter storm is expected to hit Vail early next week, says the National Weather Service.
But snow could fall on Vail even before that. The Weather Service has issued a “winter weather advisory” for Vail from Saturday evening to Sunday evening. The forecast for Saturday is mostly sunny and very cold, with wind chills making a high of 31 feel much colder, the Weather Service says.
A few inches of snow is likely Saturday night, followed by an 80 percent chance of snow Sunday, when two to four inches of snow is possible, the Weather Service says.
The Birds of Prey giant slalom is scheduled for Sunday, the final day of the World Cup races at Beaver Creek.
After the weekend, “a much stronger storm then arrives on Monday and continues into Tuesday and Tuesday night,” the Weather Service forecast says.
