LOVELAND PASS – A fuel tanker carrying 7,000 gallons rolled over a westbound Highway 6 embankment above Arapahoe Basin Ski Area at about 10:30 a.m. Friday.

The driver was flown to a hospital in Denver with serious injuries. As of 11:40 a.m., a small leak from the tanker had reportedly been contained without igniting, according to Lake Dillon Fire-Rescue.

The rollover occurred at a hairpin turn above the ski area, not far from where a similar fuel tanker exploded last August. As of this morning, responders continued working to secure the tanker from rolling farther.

Loveland Pass remains closed at this time.

Additionally, a fire in the Eisenhower Tunnel has traffic closed eastbound at 3 p.m. Friday. The tunnel is back open now.
