Lovely ladybugs to be released in Vail Valley

VAIL VALLETY, Colorado ” Johnie’s Garden Center in Minturn will celebrate spring in Vail Valley Saturday with its annual ladybug release. Children and adults of all ages are welcome to attend. The garden center will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The lady bug release is scheduled for noon. The knowledgeable staff at the Garden Center will be providing an informative lesson on the benefits of ladybugs in the garden. Children will be able to explore, learn and create. After the children release the ladybugs, they will have the opportunity to paint garden stones, color and plant seeds to take home. In addition to the activities, owner John Rosenfeld will cook up bratwursts and hot dogs, which will be accompanied by side dishes and beverages.

Ladybird beetles, most commonly known as ladybugs, are beneficial insects and their presence in the garden can combat aphids, scale insects and other harmful species. These cute little creatures provide safe and effective pest control in the garden.

Johnie’s Garden Center offers a knowledgeable staff and a wide selection of perennial flowers, annuals, herbs trees and shrubs. In addition to a large selection of flowers, the center also carries seeds, soils, pottery, tools and gifts. The garden center has been serving the area for more than a decade, providing the valley with award-winning landscape design services, construction and maintenance.
