Ludwig’s, J. Christopher Wines team up

VAIL – Ludwig’s will host a wine dinner Wednesday night.

Ludwig’s Sommelier Jarrett Quint will join with J. Christopher Wines to pair wines with Executive Chef Steve Topple’s cuisine.

“We feel this is the perfect opportunity to showcase our new light and fresh seafood fare,” Topple said. “Oregon-based J. Christopher Wines is known for producing extraordinary wine, which will make for an outstanding dinner pairing.”

The menu and wine pairing is as follows: roasted white grape salad paired with Dr Loosen 2010 Riesling; butter-poached Maine lobster salad with pineapple salsa paired with J. Christopher’s 2010 sauvignon blanc; green lip mussel “casino style” with parmesan hollandaise paired with J. Christopher’s 2010 Chardonnay; slow braised buffalo short rib with buffalo tenderloin, soft polenta and caramelized red onion sauce paired with J. Christopher 2009 Willamette pinot noir and J. Christopher 2009 Sandra Adele Pinot Noir. Finally, for dessert, Seckel pear pudding with golden raisin ice cream pear relish and caramel sauce paired with Dr Loosen 2008 Eiswein.

The J. Christopher wine dinner is at 7 p.m. Wednesday, with a fixed price of $95 per person. Reservations can be made by contacting the concierge’s desk at 970-479-5429.
