Magazine: Targhee is ‘greenest’ ski resort
Associated Press
JACKSON, Wyo. – Skiing magazine has labeled Grand Targhee Resort in northwest Wyoming the greenest ski resort in a recent story about environmentally conscious ski areas.
Targhee has established a greenhouse gas inventory that even counts the carbon impact of employee travel outside the resort.
The resort also buys renewable energy, has discontinued use of glass-bottled beverages and is trying to cut its electricity use by 10 percent this year by changing the behavior of guests and employees.
Targhee also recently won Clif Bar’s 2009 Golden Eagle Award for Environmental Excellence, which is awarded by the National Ski Areas Association.
