VAIL, Colorado –Puppet shows at the Vail library this week are meant to give kids a better appreciation for the Earth’s environment.

The shows will begin in the library’s community room Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Puppets Woolner and Eunice will have a funny conversation about what it means to be eco-friendly before introducing the featured show, “The Paper Bag Princess.” These are 40-minute shows followed by puppet-making and Earth Day-related crafts.

Supplies and instruction will be provided. Children under six must be accompanied by an adult. All the events are free. For more information, call 970-479-2179 or visit http://www.vaillibrary.com.

Also, specially priced ChicoBags-brand reusable bags will be sold to promote Earth Day. The bags normally sell for $8 but starting Monday they will be $5 a bag. They are durable, machine washable and have a 25-pound carrying capacity which makes them ideal for books or groceries.

“We have made a conscious effort to become more eco-friendly at the town of Vail Public Library,” said Lori A. Barnes, town librarian. “We are not only selling reusable bags but we have replaced our complimentary plastic bags with ones that are biodegradable.”
