Mall under construction on Chambers Avenue

Daily Staff Report

EAGLE ” Construction began recently on the Post Office Crossing shopping center in the Chambers Business District, directly across Chambers Avenue from the Eagle Post Office.

The 8,400-square-foot shopping mall is being developed by RED Real Estate Developments and Management, a local company owned by Eagle residents Amy and Chris Pates. Amy Pates says the mini-mall will lease spaces to as many as seven tenants.

She said she is planning for a mix of tenants that will offer a variety of shopping conveniences for the community.

“We have been speaking to a number of interested restaurants,” she said. “Being adjacent to two hotels, the site lends itself to a breakfast place and/or Internet cafe,

There is also a demand for a gourmet deli offering healthier versions of “fast food,” and the Pates have fielded a number of requests for a hardware store, she said.

A hair salon, fitness studio and clothing store also are potential tenants, she said.

“With population growth at a rate of 16 percent this year and expectations for growth to double over the next six years, Eagle is the place to be,” says Pates.

Construction is also underway on a Taco Bell and Long John Silver restaurant a bit further east on Chambers Avenue. Post Office Crossing spaces should be available for tenants by early November, Pates says.

“We should have shops open for holiday season,” says Pates.
