AVON ” Kurt Willis got nabbed Wednesday in Avon for allegedly stealing Altoids and a skateboard while drunk, police reported.

Willis, 45, of California, is accused of breaking into an SUV parked near Benchmark Plaza and stealing the board, Avon police officer Mike Lundblade reported. Then he fled to the Avon Conoco and shoplifted a pack of Altoids wintergreen mints valued at $2.29, Lundblade reported.

Two witnesses saw Willis bust the driver’s side window, reach in and grab either a large skateboard or small snowboard, according to police.

Willis then fled the scene, getting into a Toyota 4Runner parked near the alley between the Benchmark Shopping Center and the Annex, the report shows.

Police later located Willis ” who had a bloody arm ” at the Conoco, where he allegedly stole the Altoids and was arrested. Police accuse him of driving under the influence, first-degree criminal trespass to a vehicle, two counts of theft and other charges.

Police also found Willis had a warrant out of Aspen, where he is wanted for failing to appear in court on charges of theft, false reporting and possession of marijuana.

Willis was taken to the Eagle County jail, where he was being held Friday on $4,500 bond.
