Man assaulted near Eagle after defending signs

EAGLE, Colorado ” A man camping near Eagle was beaten while trying to stop people who’d allegedly been shooting at signs.
A 61-year-old man was camping at McKenzie Gulch near Sylvan Lake State Park just before midnight on May 9 when an SUV pulled up nearby, an Eagle County Sheriff’s Report said.
A gun shot rang out from the SUV.
The man who had been camping said he was tired of people shooting signs in the area, so he decided to drive up next to the SUV to scare the passengers a little.
However, two men leaped out of the SUV and took turns punching and kicking the camper. The SUV sped off. Police canvassed the area but did not find a car matching the SUV’s description. The camper sustained cuts and bumps on his face, along with scratches on his left arm and chest.
