AVON, Colorado – A Grand Junction man died near Avon after his truck drifted off the interstate and hit a post, the State Patrol said.

Dustin Millett, 32, was driving west on Interstate 70 in a 2007 Nissan Titan pickup truck when the truck drifted off the left side of the road and collided with a post just east of Avon.

The driver overcorrected and traveled back across the road. The truck went off the right side of the road, rolling nearly twice and coming to rest on its side.

Millett was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, James D. Wood, 33, of Montrose, was taken to the Vail Valley Medical Center with moderate injuries.

Neither Millett nor Wood were wearing a seatbelt, according to police.
