Man fighting transfer to Colorado in 1995 slaying
LAS VEGAS – A man arrested in the 1995 disappearance of his estranged wife in Greeley, Colo., says he’ll fight transfer to Colorado from Las Vegas.
John L. Sandoval was not represented by a lawyer and was not asked about the murder charge against him during a brief Monday hearing by teleconference before a Nevada judge.
The 44-year-old Sandoval was arrested last week on a warrant charging him with killing 23-year-old Kristina Sandoval. She disappeared in October 1995. Her body has never been found.
John Sandoval was being held without bail at the Clark County jail. He told Clark County District Court Judge Douglas Smith he wants to contest his extradition.
Smith set another hearing Thursday, pending an extradition warrant from the governor of Colorado.
Wildfires have become more numerous, bigger and more destructive in the past 40 years. That’s a big deal in a town surrounded by public land.
