RIFLE, Colorado – A local man remains a fugitive and could still be in the area after allegedly breaking and entering two homes in the Palomino Park subdivision Wednesday evening.

Georard Pinkerton, 33, is described as a 6-foot-1, 155-pound white male with green eyes and short brown hair, according to Rifle Police Chief Daryl Meisner.

Police contacted Pinkerton around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2, in the subdivision and discovered he had multiple warrants for his arrest.

“But [Pinkerton] decided he didn’t want to be arrested, so he jumped out of a second story window in the apartment and hit the ground,” Meisner said. “The officer decided to take the stairs – unlike TV.”

But Pinkerton had a lead, and police lost him.

“We decided to back off because school was getting out at that time, and we didn’t want any confrontation,” Meisner said.

Around 6 p.m., police received another report of a burglar whom residents had found hiding in their home. Meisner said it was reported the man was limping very badly. Yet he took off again.

“We’re also concerned about him and if he needs medical treatment,” Meisner said.

Police do not know if Pinkerton is armed.

A reverse 911 call was made to local residents Wednesday evening, advising that there was a fugitive on the loose and to take precautions.

“Lock your doors and be on the lookout,” Meisner said. “Call us if there’s anything suspicious.”
