Vail CO, Colorado
EAGLE ” A man who pleaded guilty last week to attempting to sexually assault a young girl faces up to three years in prison, Eagle County District Attorney Mark Hurlbert said.
Martin Manuel Dominguez, of Eagle, faces one to three years in prison and up to $100,000 in fines, Hurlbert said.
The girl, whose name is being withheld, accused Dominguez of fondling her when she was 8 and several other times during the following years, according to an Eagle County Sheriff’s Office report.
Dominguez assaulted the girl as recently as “February or March” 2007 and attempted to assault her on July 13, the report says.
Police records show Dominguez lives in Eagle, but he is “transient” and has lived in Minturn, Eagle Police Det. Terry Simpkins has said.
Dominguez admitted to touching, kissing and other acts with the girl, according to the report Dominguez told police he was molested when he was 3 or 4 years old, the report said.
Dominguez guessed he had had “sexual relations” with the girl between “five and 10” times during the past “five or six” years, according to the report.
Prosecutors originally charged Dominguez with sexual assault and attempted sexual assault, and Dominguez pleaded guilty to the former, Hurlbert said. Dominguez deserved to be a convicted felon due to the seriousness of the charge, and will be required to register as a sex offender, he said.
Dominguez is being held in Eagle County jail and is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 30, Hurlbert said.
