Man shot, killed in Longmont after car chase
LONGMONT, Colorado -Authorities say a man has been shot and killed in downtown Longmont after a car chase by Boulder County deputies.
Sheriff Joe Pelle says two deputies and three Longmont police officers fired at the suspect early Monday after the man raised a gun.
Pelle says the man was hit several times. It wasn’t immediately known whether the suspect fired his weapon or who fired the fatal shot or shots.
Pelle says none of the officers were hurt.
The suspect’s name hasn’t been released. Pelle says the man was 35 and was wanted on misdemeanor charges, and that his car had stolen plates.
The chase started after a deputy pulled the car over at about 2:45 a.m., but it wasn’t clear why.
Longmont is about 25 miles north of Denver.
