Man who drove off Colorado cliff was accused of sex assault
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. ” A newspaper reports that a man who park officials say was trying to kill himself when he drove off a cliff in Colorado National Monument is accused of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl.
The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reports that a judge signed a warrant Thursday accusing 34-year-old Daniel John Lyons of Clifton of felonies including sexual assault on a child.
An arrest warrant affidavit says the girl’s mother reported the allegations to Mesa County sheriff’s officials Monday.
Lyons spoke with investigators Wednesday. Later that day, he was rescued after calling 911 on his cell phone to report he had driven off the monument but survived after his van got stuck on a rock outcropping.
