Manager uses gun to foil burglar in Eagle

EAGLE, Colorado –A would-be burglar who returned to the scene of a previous crime was thwarted by a gun-wielding manager last week.
According to the Eagle Police report, the burglar attempted to rob a Chambers Avenue business at around 12:30 a.m. June 2. However, the manager was working late at the business office and heard a window being broken and an intruder breaking down a door where the business’s safe is located. The manager, armed with a gun, confronted the suspect and told him to lay on the ground.
While the suspect initially complied, he eventually jumped up and ran away. The manager then called 911 and reported the attempted burglary. He also offered a description of the suspect.
Nothing was taken in the attempted robbery and the incident was recorded on videotape, according to the police report. The business did sustain damages estimated at $350.
Based on the manager’s description, Eagle police confronted a juvenile suspect, who confessed to the crime.
