Margot P. Brown, mother of long-time Vail resident Montine B. Hansl, died peacefully Thursday, January 12, in Glenwood Springs following a long illness.Born in Montreal, Canada, Margot Brown would have been 96 years old in March. She was the widow of Mason Brown, whose business interests resulted in the family spending many years overseas. Among the places that she called home were Hong Kong, Rome, Calcutta, Bombay, Panama and Toronto, as well as Washington, D.C., Denver and New Jersey.Mrs. Brown enjoyed following the career of her daughter, Montine, whose work focused on public broadcasting and later on a number of philanthropic activities in the Vail area.Ms. Hansl asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations are sent to the Dedicated Hospice Project, Glen Valley Care and Rehabilitation Center, Roaring Fork Hospice, P.O. Box 1970, Glenwood Springs, Colorado 81602.A brief Memorial Service will be held at Vail Chapel on Monday, January 16 at 12 Noon for family and friends of Margot and Montine.
