U.S. Rep. Mark Udall, a Democrat, is serving his third term in the U.S. House of Representatives, where political observers doesn’t see much chance for a significant shift in the balance of power away from the Republicans.

Distict 2 includes Eagle, Summit, Clear Creek, Grand and Gilpin counties, and parts of Adams, Broomfield, Boulder, Jefferson and Weld counties.

Udall’s challenger is Stephen Hackman, 37, a former missionary who is now a lay minister at Freedom Christian Church, which meets at the Denver Athletic Club.

Udall graduated from Williams College in Massachusetts in 1972 and was a course director for the Colorado Outward Bound School from 1975 to 1985 and its executive director for the following 10 years.

Udall was first elected to the Colorado House of Representatives in 1997. In Congress, he has served on the House’s resources committee, science committee and agriculture committee.
