VAIL – With a philosophy grounded in healthy living on holiday, Vail Mountain Lodge welcomes back healthy cooking expert Martha Rose Shulman during Vail Restaurant Week 2012. Shulman is an award-winning, health-minded cookbook author and co-author, and creator of the feature “Recipes for Health.” She will present cooking demonstrations, during Vail Restaurant Month’s “health and outdoors” week, at Terra Bistro restaurant at Vail Mountain Lodge on Sept. 28 and 29, with a focus on healthy choices and pleasurable experiences.”This has become one of our favorite events,” said Vail Mountain Lodge General Manager Frank Johnson. “Our philosophy aligns perfectly with Martha’s expertise in healthful food choices and we’re pleased to offer two learning opportunities at Terra Bistro.”Shulman’s evening presentation, including an intimate cooking demonstration and dinner on Sept. 28, has proved popular, selling out for the past two years. The menu includes tasty and healthy Mediterranean salads, fish chowder and sorbet with a generous helping of healthy eating tips and interactive exchange with attendees. Her devotion to “eating well” – eating food that is delicious and good for the body, food that is vibrant and light, and food that is fun to cook – is the inspiration for this special evening at Terra Bistro.New this year, Shulman also will host a lunch program, on Sept. 29, that focuses on preparation of healthy picnic choices. The session includes a guided hike with Vail Vitality Center professional coach Abby Ruby, Ph.D., where participants can enjoy the picnic lunch prepared earlier.
