Mary Hilda Fresquez, 1912-2008
Mary Hilda Fresquez, 96, of Carbondale, Colorado, died Monday at the Heritage Park Care Center.
Mary was born March 12, 1912, in Penasco, N.M., to Adolpho and Josephina Sanchez. She lived there until she married and came to Colorado.
Mary was a housewife and mother to six children. She was employed in Vail for 10 years, where she worked at the plaza for Joseph Staufer. Mary later moved to Glenwood Springs, where she enjoyed her friends at the Eagle’s Club and Manor I, and going to have fun in Black Hawk. She always had a smile for everyone.
Mary is survived by her children Vernon (Lois) Fresquez, Paul (Lu) Fresquez, Jo (Paul) Huffman, Ruby (Alex) Lopez and Norma (Dave) Salaz; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Uvaldo Fresquez, daughter Bertha Matheson, her parents and four siblings.
A viewing is scheduled for Oct. 31, from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Farnum-Holt Funeral Home in Glenwood Springs. A graveside service will follow immediately at Rosebud Cemetery in Glenwood Springs.
