Matsuhisa opening in Vail this week

VAIL, Colorado – Japanese restaurant Matsuhisa is opening in Vail Village’s Solaris on Thursday.

Nobu Matsuhisa, one of the premier chefs of Japanese cuisine, will be opening his 29th restaurant in the Shops at Solaris. Classically trained in Tokyo, Matsuhisa takes traditional Japanese cuisine and infuses it with South American and Western flavors. Matsuhisa Vail is a sister restaurant of Matsuhisa Aspen, which has consistently been regarded as one of the top restaurants in Aspen since 1998.

Along with Nobu Matsuhisa, the active partners are Nobuko Kang, Michael and Steve Goldberg and regional manager/partner Todd Clark. The restaurant will be located in the lobby space of The Solaris Residences.



“Solaris is the new town center for Vail and Matsuhisa is the crown jewel of Solaris,” said Solaris developer Peter Knobel. “We have brought world-class art and architecture to Vail and we are happy and proud to also bring a world-class restaurant to North America’s premier ski resort.”

Solaris is a mixed use development in the true center of Vail Village, it is comprised of 79 residences 70,000 square feet of shopping, dining, and entertainment space, including a three-screen digital movie theater with full dining service, 10 bowling lanes, and an ice skating rink.
