Matzah Bakery is Thursday in Vail

Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL, Colorado – This year, children in Vail will play a special role in ushering in the Passover holiday with the Model Matzah Bakery.

The event is at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Chabad Jewish Center, 1000 Lionsridge Loop, in the Vail Run Building. For more information, email

The eating of the matzah is one of the most fundamental of this holiday, commemorating the haste in which the Israelites left Egypt, not allowing enough time for their dough to rise, resulting in the unleavened matzah.

This event will give children a hands-on, educational journey exploring the history and significance of Passover and matzah. Each participant will begin with stalks of wheat, which are winnowed and then ground, kneading the dough, and donning hat and apron.
