VAIL, Colorado – The Max Wagner Quartet returns to the Vail Jazz Festival stage Sunday with its high-energy jazz, from noon to 3:30 p.m. at the Vail Farmer’s Market.

Wagner, a vocalist and saxophonist, crosses the spectrum of jazz. Soulful bebop, Latin jazz, classic jazz and romantic ballads can all be heard in the group’s repertoire.

“What’s great about jazz is that it appeals to everyone on some level,” said Wagner. “We try to play music that draws you in – that’s familiar yet unusual, upbeat, with a vocabulary of its own.”

Wagner is joined on stage by Jeff Jenkins on piano, Ken Walker on bass, and Todd Reid at the drums. The performance will feature instrumentals, vocals, jazz classics, and Wagner’s originals.

The Vail Jazz Foundation presents blues, standards, vocals and straight ahead jazz at the Vail Farmers’ Market, Sundays from noon to 3:30 p.m. through Aug. 30.
