McInnis to run for Colorado governor

DENVER, Colorado ” Former congressman Scott McInnis has officially entered the governor’s race, becoming the second Republican seeking to challenge Democrat Bill Ritter.

McInnis filed a candidate affidavit with the secretary of state’s office without fanfare on Tuesday.

The filing came two weeks after Colorado Ethics Watch asked the secretary of state to investigate McInnis. The group claimed he was violating state campaign finance laws by soliciting and spending campaign funds before registering as a candidate.

McInnis denied doing anything improper, saying he’s been building support for his gubernatorial run and there’s no outside political group helping him.
