Meadow Drive streetscape wraps up for season in Vail
VAIL The first phase of the reconstruction of West Meadow Drive in Vail, Colorado, is wrapping up for the winter season, which will allow for the return of the in-town shuttle route beginning Monday. While most of the streetcape work will be completed by today, some cleanup will continue next week. Also during the week, the Four Seasons construction project will require a single lane closure on West Meadow Drive from Monday through Thursday to allow for removal of a tower crane, while Vail Valley Medical Center will require a single lane closure on Nov. 18 to accommodate installation of equipment. Neither of the lane closures will impact bus service along West Meadow Drive. The West Meadow Drive streetscape project has been under construction for the past 10 weeks. Crews have been installing utility upgrades and drainage improvements, a new asphalt roadway, new street lights and new brick paver sidewalks on both sides of the street. Replacement of the planter at the turn-around near the hospital driveway and landscaping were also completed. Streetscape crews will return in spring 2009 to complete the sidewalk along the hospital and the stretch from the Four Seasons to Vail Road.Fifteen percent of the work is being paid for by the Four Seasons to provide heated pavers along the side of the development. For more information, call Chad Salli with the town of Vail at 479-2169 or Jim Boyd with B & B Excavating at 904-6142.
