Mechanic indicted for motorcycle theft, Eagle County says

EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado ” A mechanic in the county’s fleet service department has been indicted on suspicion of being involved in a motorcycle theft ring, Eagle County said Thursday.
Edward Degner, 54, has been arrested following an investigation implicating him in a statewide motorcycle theft ring, Eagle County said.
Degner does not have a listed phone number.
Degner is accused of running a “chop shop” out of his business in Rifle between April 2004 and April 2007, Eagle County said.
Degner had worked in the county’s Fleet Services Department as an auto body repair technician since December. He has been fired, Eagle County says.

Eagle County says there is no evidence he used any county facilities in connection with the alleged crimes.
A background check conducted prior to his employment came back clear, with no criminal history, Eagle County says.
Degner has been indicted on 14 counts of aggravated motor vehicle theft and four counts of stolen auto parts, Eagle County says.
The case is under the purview of the Colorado Attorney General.
