MediaNews tests customized newspaper
DENVER, Colorado – MediaNews Group Inc. is testing a customized newspaper that can be delivered to individuals at home or in hotels by cell phone or computer.
The Denver-based company is offering the service, called I-News, at a downtown Denver hotel.
From a desktop printer, participating hotel guests get news from their hometowns and from The Denver Post, which is owned by MediaNews.
The test included advertising for businesses within a two-block radius of the hotel.
Tests are also planned in homes in a northwest Denver neighborhood.
MediaNews plans a larger trial this summer with one of its other newspapers, the Los Angeles Daily News.
MediaNews CEO William Dean Singleton is chairman of the board of The Associated Press.
A survey showed a good bit of support for local government action to bolster workforce housing in town. For now though, that support stops at supporting a new tax for funding.
