Medical marijuana limits up for hearing on Monday
DENVER, Colorado – Backers of medical marijuana are protesting a proposal to limit marijuana providers to five patients each. The change could affect dispensaries that have sprouted up to serve a growing number of patients around Colorado.
The state health board is set to take testimony on the five-patient limit during a hearing on Monday.
It’s one of several changes they’re considering making to how the voter-approved Amendment 20 is carried out.
The health department says there’s nothing in the law that allows for the creation of dispensaries. It says caregivers supplying patients with marijuana must be people, not businesses.
There are now about 9,100 people registered to use medical marijuana in Colorado after getting the backing of a doctor.
