"Green Horn" by Carrie Fell

BEAVER CREEK — Born-and-bred Coloradan, artist Carrie Fell, sums up the nature of cowboys — "Everything they owned they needed and everything they needed they wore."

That independent character is the heart of Fell's latest summer collection of paintings, "B-COOL".

"If people are going to enjoy my work," the artist said, "It needs to be more than just pretty colors on a canvas. It has to be authentic, to have meaning."

How do Carrie's independent cowboys and self-reliant longhorns and wildlife fit into this philosophy? Some paintings are bright in vivid color, expounding energy and movement, while in others you'll find her figures under starry nights in an unassuming pose of reflection. The artist's paintings are a recognition that our lives are punctuated with both full tilt, high energy stretches and the quiet space where we can readjust our hat and saddle and take time to breathe. It's these moments of repose that gives us the freedom to forge ahead, move mountains and make memories.

Horton Fine Art will be showcasing the B-COOL Summer Collection and new works by Carrie Fell. Visitors and art lovers can discover this dynamic artist's work for themselves over the July Fourth weekend. Also, Fell will personally be on hand to visit with guests at the gallery on Friday, July 2 from 2 to 4 p.m.
