Memorial park loan has been repaid

Daily Staff Writer

Daily Staff ReportVAIL – Vail has been repaid four years early for a $50,000 loan it made to assist in the design and construction of the Vail Memorial Park. The park was planned and constructed by the Vail Memorial Park Foundation, a private citizens group. Phase 1 of the park, consisting of two 50-foot long rock walls approximately four feet high, was completed and dedicated last September. There also is a log-and-metal entry way sign and a crushed-stone path leading from the bike path in East Vail just before it crosses over Gore Creek. The path leads toward the base of the East Vail cliffs and a gathering space for memorial services. Ashes can be placed in biodegradable urns or scattered at the park. Memorial stones can also be purchased. A network of walkways is being planned. For more information on Vail Memorial Park visit or call Executive Director Chip Domke at 476-3400.Vail, Colorado
