Mesa County landfill manager facing charges

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) – Investigators say the director of Mesa County’s waste management division is accused of harassing a county employee and the employee’s wife, who had ended an affair with him.

Fifty-three-year-old Robert Ernest Edmiston is free on a $3,000 personal-recognizance bond. Prosecutors haven’t filed charges yet, but The Daily Sentinel reports he could face charges including stalking. Edmiston did not immediately return a phone message Friday.

Edmiston is on paid administrative leave, and County Administrator Jon Peacock says an internal investigation is pending.

An arrest affidavit alleges Edmiston called or sent hundreds of messages to the couple in the last eight months and attached a GPS unit to the woman’s car.
