Michael John Gahagan, 55, passed away due to massive heart failure on Sunday at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Denver.

Michael moved back to the Vail Valley 15 years ago after earning a master’s degree in education from the University of Florida. In addition, he was a licensed professional counselor, a certified addictions counselor, and an approved domestic violence treatment provider. Mike owned and operated Eagle Valley Counseling in Edwards from 2004 to June 2008.

Michael was a vibrant, outgoing and fun-loving individual who enjoyed many of the outdoor activities the valley has to offer. He was an avid skier, bicyclist and hiker, and friend to many. Mike and his wife, Sally, very much enjoyed traveling to the sandy beaches of Mexico, where they partook in many scuba diving adventures.

Mike will be greatly missed by his wife and best friend, Sally, and his many friends.

Michael is survived by his wife, Sally, of Avon; stepson Scott Foley, of Avon; brother Daniel Gahagan and wife Patsy, of Florida; and his beloved dog, Alice.
