Michael Kurz hired to lead Vail Valley Partnership
VAIL Michael Kurz has been hired as the Vail Valley Partnerships new president and chief executive officer. Kurz comes to the Partnership after serving 10 years as CEO and creative director for his own company, Kurz McDonald Brand Development in Vail. He starts work Feb. 11.Michaels leadership will take the Partnership to new heights, said Greg Repetti, Vail Valley Partnership board chairman. Michaels marketing and brand development expertise will be a huge asset to the organization in its responsibility to promote the destination. … Michael is a true diplomat, and were excited to have him on board.Kurz replaces former director Michael Robinson, who resigned in October after 16 months on the job. Robinson replaced Frank Johnson, who resigned in 2005 after 14 years on the job.Im extremely excited to begin my new role with the Partnership, Kurz said. I enter at a time when the Vail Valley is amidst a period of economic change and growth. While this presents challenges, it also presents opportunities and Im honored to be part of an organization that can impact this dynamic.Kurz has worked in the marketing communications business since 1973, working with advertising agencies including Tracy-Locke/BBDO, Haddon Advertising, Chicago and Lance Jackson & Associates Inc. of Denver. He worked on both the creative and account service sides of the business for clients in industries from banking/finance, professional services/associations, to travel/tourism and health care. Clients Kurz has represented include: Visa, First Chicago Corp., National Jewish Medical and Research Center, Scarpa Technology, Vaultrx Corp. and The Vail Academy.
