Minturn cleanup is Saturday
May 12, 2011
MINTURN, Colorado – The Town of Minturn Clean-Up Day is scheduled for Saturday from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Beginning at 7 a.m., residents may bring unwanted items to the Minturn Municipal Lot, located across from the Turntable Restaurant and Motel. This event provides the citizens of Minturn with a free and convenient receptacle to deposit their appliances, debris and undesired items from their property and home spring cleaning. The Minturn Public Works Department staff and the Eagle River Fire Protection District staff will be present to help unload vehicles at the Municipal Lot.
As in years past, there will be volunteers from Battle Mountain Development Co., Johnie’s Garden, the Minturn-Redcliff Business Association and the Town of Minturn with trucks to assist residents with transporting their unwanted items to the Dumpsters. If residents are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity, items for disposal should be prepared and ready for pick-up in an accessible area. To sign up for this free service, call The Minturn-Red Cliff Business Association at (970) 477-1984 today. Keep in mind the Eagle Valley Community Fund will gladly take items in good condition for their annual Rummage Sale.
This year, residents may bring batteries of any type for disposal. There will not be a fee charged for battery disposal. In addition, refrigerators with freon will be accepted during Town Clean-Up day for a $40 fee. This fee will be collected when the refrigerator is dropped off at the Municipal Lot.
Items NOT accepted for pick-up or disposal include, but are not limited to: paint, rocks and dirt, commercial construction materials, hazardous waste, flammable items and oil of any kind.
Hazardous materials may be disposed of at the Household Hazardous Waste and Small Business Collection Facility located at the Eagle County Landfill.
